As Alexis' father I wouldn't miss this challenge for the world. I have recruited a merry band of 6 solid men as my back up crew and together we will scale the peaks while taking in the scenery. The 3 peaks are Snowden in Wales, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis in Scotland. We hope to raise good money with this event to honour my daughter's memory and edge nearer to our £40,000 target. The reason we have set our target so high is because there is no time limit on the effects of meningitis. Once you or someone in your family has experienced it, the effects are life-long. If we can raise £1000 a year then I will only be 61 when we reach the £30k mark and then we will be able to raise the target even higher...
It's a month since Alexis died, we can't believe it.
Last week I joined the gym, have been most days at 6.30am! I also borrowed a cross trainer from our good pal Janis and gave up smoking.
As soon as the sponsorship forms arrived I went up and down our streets collecting and I had an amazing response. Ruth and I always knew we had great neighbours but the support we have received has really moved us. Within one evening I had £350 cash and another £250 still to collect in. I also gave out forms to friends and local businesses, and our good friend Joanna was back within a day with £90 from the Hydro- thanks Jo and everyone who donated!
Today I am off up Moncreiff Hill with David and the kids for some more training. Will post the photos when we're back...
